quality time…

We had some excellent quality time as a family this weekend. With Billy and I both not feeling 100%, we've been in the house a lot, so we were in desperate need of some good ole sunshine. While Mr. Fleurishing worked on the yard, we watched (ha) and played in the grass. Our backyard is very private-it's like our own little park. A weekend of unplanned, quiet perfection.

I am a mommy

I am a mommy. It might not be to a human, but my heart is filled with love just the same. This little guy has taught me patience, selflessness, and unconditional love. I would do anything for him. When I am not with him it feels as if I forgot something. I stare at him for hours, and I never tire of his cuteness. We cuddle-he lays his head on my chest and falls asleep. He relies on me  for so much, and I plan my schedule around him. I stay up with him when he is sick, and it makes me feel ill myself when he is hurting. I take ten thousand photos of him and show them to anyone and everyone. I delight in his happiness and content. I excitedly await the day that I become a mother to a child (and Billy becomes a brother), but for now…this feels just the same. I am grateful for and cherish every moment we are given.

billy and the bunny…

Ok, ok…so this is from last year, but since I wasn't blogging then, I thought I would share it with you-it's just too cute and funny not to. The local pet resort (yes, I said resort) held an Easter playdate where you could also have your dog's photo taken with the (weird, slightly frightening) bunny. The best part was watching all the other dogs just run around trying to eat treats, and then the owners trying to get them to sit still with the bunny…wasn't happening. Billy was last, and he pranced in, and after a few sniffs, went right up to the bunny and was put on his lap. He then sat perfectly still and looked right at the camera, for 6 or so shots! That's my boy…he's amazing, and has no idea he's a dog. And, well…maybe we don't either.

billy’s 10th birthday!

My furry soulmate is ten years old today, I can't believe it. It feels like yesterday when I made the trip to meet him, and held him in my arms for the first time. My life was forever changed, and I cannot imagine it without him. Mr. Fleurishing was never a "small dog" kind of guy, but he is now, and not just because he had to be (since billy was part of the package). He is OUR furry child…and the love we have for this little guy is immeasurable. Here's to immortality…

happy birthday billy!

We're in the process of some renovation work and moving this week, so my posts will be sporadic. I can't wait to share before/after photos…you can follow the progress via my tweets if you wish. Billy is so excited about our new home…he wanted to make sure he was coming!
