P stands for…Poilâne! I find myself at this amazing bakery (first opened in 1932) whenever I’m in Paris. They are most famously known for their round, sourdough country bread – miche or pain poilâne, with their signature “p” carved into the top. Their flagship shop (shown here) is in Saint-Germain des Prés, but they also have locations in the 3rd + 15th, as well as in London! Why not visit them all…and be sure to try the Viennese pastries as well. Check out this fascinating video featuring the late Lionel Poilâne himself, as well as this beautiful video detailing their bread-making process.

Would you believe I still have content to share from our Paris trip?! I have a big finale planned, once I reach the end of it all…and I’ll be reaching that point soon (very soon). We made reservations for brunch at Ladurée, at the Champs-Elysee location (we had plans for the Arc after), and asked photographer Ashley Ludaescher to join us. I was curious if it would be suitable for toddlers  – I had seen a few there before, but never my own! Knowing how well-behaved Henry + Marie are gave us confidence, but hey – they’re still toddlers. We went in with the mindset that it wouldn’t be a leisurely experience, but that it was possible. Plus, I introduced them to the joy of macarons early. Start ’em young, am I right?!

You are looking at a pile of heaven customized Nutella jars for The Hive, a European gathering of digital storytellers, tastemakers + bloggers. While the thought of scoring one of those jars gets me excited, I am even more thrilled to announce I’ll be a speaker at this year’s conference! I was so flattered when founder Yvonne Dewerne reached out to me and invited me to speak – it didn’t take me long to say yes. I’ve been anxious to attend since it’s inception, and this year it’s being held in Dublin! I cannot wait to explore Ireland and my Monahan roots (recommendations welcome). You can see the list of incredible speakers here (more to be announced) – tickets go on sale next week. Come join the fun in April!

I’m finally getting around to sharing the colorful second set of photos from our beautiful afternoon in Paris. Taken by my friend Ashley Ludaescher, these images perfectly capture the joy we all felt. We made memories there that will never be forgotten – in fact, the kids bring it up all the time and ask when we’re going back. Someday I tell them….hopefully, someday soon. Check out part un (all black + white photography) for more about our day, and click through to see more!

kids-van-landingham-estate

We just returned from a trip down south to Charlotte, North Carolina. I don’t talk about Charlotte much, but it’s where both mr. fleurishing and I lived for many years, met, and married. We went down to spend time with Parker’s family (in celebration of his 40th), built around a business conference he had. It was a busy week, but we made time to visit the estate where we were married in 2009. Built in 1913, the Van Landingham Estate is an escape in the heart of Charlotte, and it won us over with it’s character + gorgeous gardens. We hadn’t been back since then, so bringing our children there was really special. It was a beautiful day, and you better believe I brought my camera to capture Henry + Marie there.
