nyc luxury

Untitled-2

We had a luxurious and lovely stay at the St. Regis Hotel in Manhattan. A timeless classic, the French Beaux-Arts style hotel opened it’s doors in 1904. This was our second time staying there, for free thanks to hotel points -a major perk of my husbands past work travels! Upon arrival we learned we had also been upgraded to a suite, ooh la la…which you may recall has happened to us before. Not a bad start to our mini babymoon, eh?! It is a great base for getting around town as it is centrally located, and the service is impeccable. I particularly love the French interior design (bien sur) and elegant old world touches…you feel transformed to that golden era. We felt like royalty!

My room shots didn’t turn out great, so I took this one from the hotel site!

nyc bound!

My health has finally improved, so we are taking our NYC weekend trip as planned, hooray! We have a jam packed itinerary (with many restful pauses) and will be seeing new places as well as some old favs. You can find me at Ladurée any time of day…that will be the highlight of the trip for me…it's been too long since my last perfectly French macaron. Thankfully my husband is keen to indulge my francophilia at all times! He took this photo of me 3 years ago during a blissful long weekend in the city, and we're looking forward to this and a few other flings before the babies arrive in the summer!

psst…you can also follow my adventures via twitter + instagram!

wayfare mag…

The internet is buzzing with excitement about the newly launched Wayfare Magazine…have you seen it?! I learned of it via my friend Anne Ditmeyer, who is the Art Director/Editor, and I am so impressed with the result! I am addicted to reading about travel via blogs, print mags, or books, and this is the perfect amalgamation of all of those mediums, in my opinion. I've been enjoying it on my iPad, which it is designed perfectly for. I'm already looking forward to their next issue, due out spring/summer!

boston bound!

I'm off to Massachusetts this weekend to visit my best friend and her family (4 children and Billy's best bud Tintin)! I'm taking the train to Boston, which I am quite excited about, and will be exploring the city and spending leisurely time in the lovely suburb where they live. I made a few trips there when I was younger (my Dad grew up there), but have not spent enough time exploring it as an adult. I intend to share some of my favorite spots when I return…they will be francophile focused, of course!

 Bon weekend!
