After many gloomy, rainy days, this weekend thankfully brought sun and warmer temperatures. Henry and Marie had yet to experience swinging, so with visions of cute photos dancing in my head we made our way to the playground. Mommy and daddy were a bit more excited about it than they were, but they were content and super cute sharing the swing! There is something so symbolic to me about the last photo…the push and pull of motherhood…wanting your children to grow wings and stand on their own and yet always wanting them to return to you. Obviously I don’t know much about that just yet, but I know the time will come. I’m savoring these days of pom pom hats and binkies!

Saturday was hectic. We bundled everyone up and ventured out to our local tree farm, same as last year (plus two)! We knew it would be a challenge to juggle two babies and billy while searching for and cutting down a tree, but we were delusional up for it. Here’s how it went down- billy wanted to explore and subsequently fell into a (small) hole, henry started freaking out, marie decided to make a big mess in her diaper, and we began debating whether to call the whole thing off and forget a tree this year. Needless to say these photos were taken before the chaos ensued. Just more evidence that the lives of bloggers are not always as effortlessly beautiful as photos may portray! However-we did bring home a tree, and it is a reminder of our chaotic new life…full of love, laughter, and yes, a LOT of diapers.

I’d like to take a breather from babies for a moment, will you indulge me? You’re probably breathing a sigh of relief, ha! I recently had the pleasure of visiting my friend Chanee Vijay, the owner and designer behind Melongings Studio. A recent transplant to Philadelphia from Charlotte, we discovered we have mutual friends and lived a few blocks from each other down south! Such a small, small world. Once set up in her new, beautiful studio here in Philly, I had the opportunity to take a tour of her historic home in Society Hill and see where her creative visions are brought to life!

Chanee began her business in 2011 with the goal of creating beautiful, hand printed, organic textiles for the home. Each hand-pulled screenprint and blockprint is created with regard for our health, the environment and longevity. The elegant designs are unique, neutral, and compliment almost any decor…I personally love the shimmery metallics collection. Head over to her site to check out the latest and learn more about her fabulous company!

We took a leisurely country drive along the brandywine river on Sunday, to admire the peak autumn color (and seek out apple cider and donuts)! I absolutely adore this part of Pennsylvania, rich with rolling hills, stone farmhouses, barns, and…horses! Billy saw his very first horse when we moved here, and since then has maintained a fascination with them. With the focus so often on the babies these days, it felt great to indulge him with wind in his face and a smorgasbord of farm animal smells to analyze.
