summertime…

Peonies

When the temperatures rise and the ground is scorching, you can find me…inside. Unless of course, there are peonies to be found…it is one of the few pleasures I enjoy during the summer. Peonies, strawberries, the smell of fresh cut grass, ice cream, le tour de france, and…air conditioning.

This past weekend we drove to Manayunk (a section of Philly) to check out the Three Potato Four barn sale. I had been hearing about them for a while, yet had never made it out there. We arrived early and joined the line waiting to enter…imagine having a line to get into your store-what a dream! The old warehouse was filled with vintage treasures, and we found ourselves wanting to build a room around an old industrial worktable. We left with just a few small items, but now know where to go for inspiration.

blog anniversary!

Bloganniversaire

It's hard to believe that my one year blog anniversary is today! It began as a creative outlet after moving, feeling inspired by my new surroundings but also as a way to keep in touch with my friends and family. Little did I know that it would grow to be so rewarding, and introduce me to so many creative, kind and inspiring people. I have made some great friends, and the blog community has been so good to me. I am looking forward to what the next year will bring. Today I am filled with gratitude, pride, and happiness!

merci tout le monde!

positive thinking

This is our neighborhood, and it’s what I’ve always had in my mind as the kind of place I wanted to live. We are settling in, getting to know our neighbors, and enjoying weekend strolls. It may look like suburbia, but we are only a few blocks from the heart of our town and can walk to all the restaurants, shops, and events…we love it. On another note, it’s been a tough few days…I’ve been in a lot of pain physically, with no explanation for it. I’ve had a few tests but no official diagnosis yet…although signs are pointing towards fibromyalgia. It’s the kind of thing that changes your life, but I know I can handle whatever it is with my amazing support system of family (especially my incredible husband) and friends. My posts may be sporadic this week as I deal with this, and get all my work done too…thanks for your patience.

suzy homemaker…

There is something about being in our 1940's cottage that brings out the "suzy homemaker" in me. I think it is possible I had a past life in that era, as I have always loved everything about it. The culture was so rich and lively…the music, fashion, lifestyle, it all suits me. My grandfather passed on his Saturday Evening Post collection to me, and sometimes I wish I could jump right into a Norman Rockwell illustration. I've always loved my name (Susan) as it is "of the time". Living in this retro home makes me want to cook more (I rarely do), hang laundry outside to dry (we have a line), and wear a fancy apron around the house (I have a vintage one). Just, you know…for fun. I'm curious…what era do you most associate with and why?
