We had a luxurious and lovely stay at the St. Regis Hotel in Manhattan. A timeless classic, the French Beaux-Arts style hotel opened it’s doors in 1904. This was our second time staying there, for free thanks to hotel points -a major perk of my husbands past work travels! Upon arrival we learned we had also been upgraded to a suite, ooh la la…which you may recall has happened to us before. Not a bad start to our mini babymoon, eh?! It is a great base for getting around town as it is centrally located, and the service is impeccable. I particularly love the French interior design (bien sur) and elegant old world touches…you feel transformed to that golden era. We felt like royalty!

My room shots didn’t turn out great, so I took this one from the hotel site!

My health has finally improved, so we are taking our NYC weekend trip as planned, hooray! We have a jam packed itinerary (with many restful pauses) and will be seeing new places as well as some old favs. You can find me at Ladurée any time of day…that will be the highlight of the trip for me…it's been too long since my last perfectly French macaron. Thankfully my husband is keen to indulge my francophilia at all times! He took this photo of me 3 years ago during a blissful long weekend in the city, and we're looking forward to this and a few other flings before the babies arrive in the summer!

psst…you can also follow my adventures via twitter + instagram!

I'm off to Massachusetts this weekend to visit my best friend and her family (4 children and Billy's best bud Tintin)! I'm taking the train to Boston, which I am quite excited about, and will be exploring the city and spending leisurely time in the lovely suburb where they live. I made a few trips there when I was younger (my Dad grew up there), but have not spent enough time exploring it as an adult. I intend to share some of my favorite spots when I return…they will be francophile focused, of course!

 Bon weekend!

My Valentine’s Day surprise began as a planned part of my Paris itinerary. I would have been returning from my trip now, but as I mentioned…bigger things took precedent (hooray). So, I enlisted the help of my good friend Lindsey, who was so incredibly kind and sweet to make this dream a reality. In Paris, the Pont Des Arts bridge is a well known spot to profess your love, attach a love lock, and cast the key into the Seine, for eternity! Many a romantic has left a lock, as you will see…

There was a time in May 2010 when the authorities decided to crack down on this lovely gesture, and overnight the locks were gone. However, the romantics could not be stopped – locks soon covered the bridge once more. Being a hopeless romantic, this was something I had to do. After learning I would not be there to do it myself, I had the custom engraved lock shipped to Lindsey. On a sunny (freezing) day, she attached our lock, threw away the key, and took these photos!

So…this is my (public) valentine to my hubby…a tribute to our love now resides in Paris. In the city of love, over the beautiful Seine, and under the watchful eye of Notre Dame. Years from now, we may find ourselves there again, but regardless of whether we do…I love you…je t’aime…pour toujours.

*UPDATE 2014*

Had I known the damage the locks were doing to the historic bridge, I would not have done this. Recently, a portion of the bridge collapsed under the weight. Don’t fret – there are many other ways to profess your love in Paris!
