desktop fleurish | réveillon

Untitled-3

New year, new blog series! I’m kicking off 2016 with a monthly desktop download series I’m calling “desktop fleurish”…see what I did there? A collaboration with my talented artist/calligrapher friend Lindsey Buck of The Hive Studio, she’ll be hand-lettering a beautiful French word for your desktop each month. First up is the word réveillon, which means “awakening” in French – the perfect sentiment for the start of a new year, don’t you think? It’s always been a favorite word/concept of mine, and it also happens to be a New Year’s tradition we celebrate each year. This particular download (including two versions of the design) is exclusive to newsletter subscribers, as a thank you to those already subscribed, and to entice you to sign-up if you haven’t yet, of course! You can sign up via the box in my sidebar, or by clicking here.

happy new year + bonne année a tous!

paloma’s nest

palomas-nest-stockings

Ever since discovering the beautiful handmade goodness of Paloma’s Nest six years ago, I’ve been in holiday decor heaven. Our personalized stockings are among my favorite Christmas decor…they are the first to go up, and the last to come down. Handcrafted of organic natural canvas + flannel and personalized with a white ceramic tile, they are meant to be cherished for years. I have no doubt that they will be, and plan to pass them along to the kids when they – sniff – leave the nest. It’s not too late to order some for yourself – personalized orders placed this week will ship (free) for delivery by Christmas Eve within the states! Don’t forget to get one for each of your family members, so Santa knows who’s who!

le petit atelier de paris

After coveting the work of Le Petit Atelier de Paris for years, I finally had the chance to see their wares in person while in Paris. I kicked myself for never having made it to their boutique in the Marais before it closed, but was relieved to learn they sell online. Additionally, my good friend Jill had connected and met with owners and artists Stéphane + Jae, and put me in touch with them before our trip. They very generously offered to open up their studio for me, and I was lucky enough to see their offerings in person. What used to be their boutique is now a lovely guesthouse, but Stéphane (along with furry mascot Pompom) kindly met me there one afternoon to let me browse and learn more about their process.

national stationery show recap

After many years of drooling from afar, I finally made it to the National Stationery Show! It takes place once a year in NYC, at the incredible Javits Center. I went solo, armed with a list of must-sees, and it was so awesome to meet some of my favorite paper people in person (say that 5 times fast)! I was also lucky enough to attend the fabulous Paper Party, hosted by Nole of Oh So Beautiful Paper, and wow – the stationery industry knows how to party. I mean, take a look at the invite! I’m so glad I finally made it to the show, and I hope to return next year, if only to say hello again to my favorites:

trois

typography-tattoo

This is not a traditional Mother’s Day post. This is the story behind my most recent tattoo. A tattoo that represents many things to me, including my identity, my love story and…my children. The number three (trois, in French) has always been significant in my life, but only became evident to me when I met my husband. Suddenly, it was like the pieces of my own personal puzzle were finally coming together. Fast forward (three) years, and I was pregnant with twins. My body became a sanctuary for two human beings to grow and thrive in. Three of us, as oneWhile we no longer share my body, my beautiful children, Henry et Marie, will always be a part of me, until the day I die. I still have a hard time comprehending the concept, the reality, the gift–three years later. Yes…as luck? would have it, this happens to be my third Mother’s Day.
