I stumbled across this beautifully illustrated guide to Louis style chairs a while ago, and thought I'd share my favorite! Many pieces in our home are of the Louis XV style, and I love mixing it with more modern furniture and design. It tends to be fairly feminine, which I am always drawn to, but by mixing it with more masculine and clean lined pieces my husband is more comfortable with it! Do you also love the Louis style, and if so, what period is your favorite?
many thanks to the aestate for the illustration
Our first stop on the way into D.C. was Old Town Alexandria…a charming, historic favorite of mine. In fact, I was born in the area, so it makes sense why I love it so much. My main goal was to visit Fifteen Eleven, a beautiful paper goods boutique you have most likely heard of! Owned by the lovely Suann Song, the entire building is "buzzing" with creativity-The Hive at 1511 houses many other talented ladies. It did not disappoint, and is a haven for lovers of letterpress, like moi! Meeting Suann was a true pleasure, and she was kind to chat with us considering what a busy lady she is. If you find yourself in Alexandria, be sure to stop in…and also check out Suann's local favorites:
The Butcher's Block * Hooray Books * La Fromagerie * Olio Olive Oil Shop * Five Guys Burgers * Bellacara * Bishop Boutique * Red Barn Mercantile * Lavender Moon Cupcakery
This weekend was filled with “nesting” activities, chores, and shopping…at Clover Market! First, I must confess…I had my camera, but ended up chatting too much. So, this shot is from our last time at the market, ha…this worn street lamp caught my eye. I would like to take a quick moment to mention some friends who have booths there…Spotted Horse Textiles has just joined the ranks, and the selection of authentic burlap wares and antiques are to die for. I ran into Jahje of Baby Jives and she just had a beautiful baby girl so no booth currently, but do check out her handcrafted baby mobiles, they are so charming. Many of you know of Chez Sucre Chez, and Kimberly is also now selling there…I am gaga over her unique embroidered designs…you will be seeing her work in our nursery! Clover Market is brimming with local talent and always enjoyable…it’s worth a visit Philly friends!
