Hasbrouck House in the fall

m

The weekend before my fortieth, I was joined by my bestie Angie for a weekend adventure in the Hudson Valley. I’m so lucky to have a friend that says “yes” without hesitation to the idea of a girls trip and is game for whatever my heart desires (love you Ang). We drove up together, had the most beautiful weather, and even caught some early fall color. I’d been wanting to stay at Hasbrouck House for some time, and we managed to snag the one + only “friend suite” on the estate (it’s geared towards couples and is super romantic if that’s what you’re looking for). Despite our lack of romance (although no shortage of love), the 18th century mansion was the perfect backdrop for exploring the area, and the accommodations were both chic and cozy. The staff is welcoming and goes out of their way to make sure your stay is relaxed (not sponsored, just sharing the love). We had a great time wandering around, and I’m sharing our itinerary!

We kicked off the festivities with an amazing dinner at Brunette in Kingston. I’ve been anxious to get there after learning of the wine bar via @thefrancophiles community, and it did not disappoint. In addition to the gorgeous (and oh-so-gramable) interiors, the food + wine was incredible, and sharing the experience with my favorite brunette was extra special. Afterwards we headed over to BSP for a live performance from Joanna Sternberg + Spirit Family Reunion (whew, what an exhilarating show) and more late night fun at Stockade. We danced and laughed the majority of the weekend and stayed up way past our usual bedtimes (we’re both hard working moms after all) …it was just what we needed. Lest you think we neglected the classic autumnal activities, don’t fret – we found time for Oktoberfest (hosted by Butterfield at Hasbrouck), a whiskey tasting at Tuthilltown Distillery, and stopped for the award-winning cider donuts at Tantillo’s Farm Market (yes, they’re worth a trip). Until next time, Hudson Valley…you’re always a favorite, no matter the season.
