I seek out a French fix wherever I go (ahem, are you following @thefrancophiles?) and New York City makes my mission incredibly easy. I hadn’t been to the city (solo) since L’Appartment Sézane opened, and I was honored to be given private access before hours. While Sézane was the first French brand to sell online, they’ve since opened up two brick + mortar boutiques: Paris, followed by this one in Nolita (their first in the states). Filled with their latest collection, ever-changing lifestyle selections, and treats from Maman, it should be on every Francophile’s NYC itinerary. They recently launched their DEMAIN initiative which helps to support under-privileged children around the world. A new design is introduced on the 21st of each month, the profits of which go directly to partner charities. Shop the latest here!

I wandered Elizabeth Street all morning, popping into two other favorites (not pictured): Le Labo + Clare V. So much goodness on one street, and just around the corner – the perfect French spot for lunch! Cherche Midi is a classic bistro from the award-winning restaurateur Keith McNally (of Balthazar, Augustine and Pastis fame). It truly transports you to Paris, from the subway tiles to the menu – the brasserie vibe is spot-on. My friend Kirsten Alana agreed to meet me there and we enjoyed a leisurely lunch…and no, we didn’t photograph the food because we were too hungry! Perhaps it was the champagne, but we decided to wander back down Elizabeth Street. A beautiful scent lured us inside Cire Trudon…

The history of the Cire Trudon brand is staggering. Founded in Paris, 1643…they supplied candles for the cathedrals and nobility of France, and were the favorite of Louis XIV, the Sun King. Each candle is hand-poured in Normandy into stunning glass vessels featuring their signature crest. As you can see, their Nolita boutique (opened in 2016) reflects the opulence and elegance of the brand, with burgundy-lacquered walls and mirrors evoking Versailles. The scents are beautifully subtle, and transport you –  to both faraway and familiar places. In addition to their candles, they offer diffusers, room sprays, perfumes, and busts (too beautiful to burn). The store is truly an experience – the staff encourages you to linger, and are more than happy to discuss the history and stories behind each item. I highly recommend a visit!
