I am going to apologize in advance for being a bit of a downer today, but I feel it is important to share the good and the bad. If you are a regular reader, you are aware of some of my recent health issues. However, since then, more has developed. I am dealing with two other health concerns (won't bore you with the details), but they are both concerning and frustrating. However, the worst news is that my father was diagnosed with cancer last week. I am very close to him, and this was a shock to us all. We are all doing our best to stay positive, but the truth is, it's extremely upsetting no matter how you spin it. This year has not been good for our family health-wise…and it is freaking me out a bit. Our little Billy had to have a second surgery on his knee…but he is probably the healthiest of us all. I keep joking that I/we are a "hot mess" right now, but the truth is, I'm scared and a bit depressed. Doing my best to stay strong…

Suzi, I will be praying for you and your father and little Billy. Let me know if there is anything I can do.

I’m so sorry you’re going through such rough times. It happens to all of us and all I can suggest is that you keep in mind that this wave will pass and to remember you have people all around you who will be thinking of you and your family. Sending hugs.
thanks so much Angela…
yes, we all face darkness for sure Lindsey…thank you so much for your support. xo
Sending positive vibes and healthy thoughts your way!
My thoughts are with you and your family, Suzi. Try your best to stay positive and focus on all the good in your life.
My father too struggled with cancer and I so well understand how you feel. Here if you need me!
I’m so sorry you have to deal with so much all at once. When it rains it really pours doesn’t it? All of you are in my thoughts and I hope everyone will be sorted out very soon. Life definitely cycles up and down, so at least we know that every low point will eventually be followed by a high point again. Though I know that is small comfort when you are in the valley. Hang in there, and please tell us if there is anything we can do.
Now I have to go against the grain for a little bit here and say that it is okay, and even necessary, to allow yourself to feel the negative every once in a while. Dealing with so many scary things and always trying to be completely positive is exhausting and has a tendency to make you burn out and crash. So every once in a while it is okay to let yourself have a day to just feel bad, cuddle Billy, eat comfort food, and start over with a positive outlook again tomorrow.
Sorry to get all psychological on you, I guess you can take the girl out of psych class but you can’t take psych class out of the girl =)
Sending you loads of love.
I am so sorry to hear the bad news, I will be sending positive thoughts your way.
Brooke, Kasia…Miss B…thank you so very much.
Em…I appreciate your comment so much, as I myself am always thinking like a psychologist. I didn’t study it as extensively as you, but I’m fascinated by it and have almost always seen a therapist, as part of my life. I think everyone should! I agree that it is OK to be down, and allow yourself to feel that…in fact I think it is unhealthy to NOT let yourself feel that. I’m glad you feel the same…it is comforting! xo
Oh Susan, big hug to you. I can’t imagine what it must be like to experience health concerns recently. As for cancer, I know the feeling, as it has touched some family members and a friend. If you ever want to talk or just need someone to listen, please please don’t hesitate to reach out. I consider you a dear friend and hate to imagine you and your family’s recent turmoil. Focus on the positive as much as you can. It helps.
Sending you lots of love, Susan! I’m sorry that so many health issues have seemingly taken over, but like you said.. you just have to stay positive and keep the negativity (which will only worsen the conditions) at bay. I’ll be thinking of you, your father, and Billy.
Kayla, you are also a dear friend, thank you for the love. I’m doing my best to stay positive through all this…I know it can help. xo
Thank you for the love Eva!! :)
Oh Susan! I am so sorry to read this news.
Know you are in my thoughts, and if you need anything –ANYTHING–at all, please just say the word.

Oh my goodness, sweetness. I am terribly sorry. That is an awful lot to shoulder in one year. Just know, you will get through it. Both of my parents have cancer and I’m happy to report they are winning the battle. Your father will need you now more than ever. Just goes to show how important family is (puts things in perspective). My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. Sending healthy vibes your way. Wish I could give you a big hug right now.
Nichole…thank you so much…how sweet. xo
Catherine, you are so right–he needs me more than anything right now, and I have to stay positive (for my Mom as well). At this point his prognosis is looking good after radiation, but we will know more soon. I am so happy your parents are winning the battle, as so many are and do, that helps me. Your comment is like a big HUG, thank you!! xo
I’m so sorry hear this, I’ll been sending positive thoughts and prayers to you and your family.
Susan, you and your family are in my thoughts and prayers. I am so sorry you are going through this difficult time.
Hugs for you.

I’m so sorry you’re going through this and hope that things improve for you and your family.
Oh, Susan. I’m sorry to hear it. I know how you are feeling. I’ve been in your shoes and I will tell you that the power of positive thinking paired with lots of love are a few of the best things you can do as a daughter. You know where to find me if you ever want someone to just listen. Huge hugs from NYC. See you soon.
I am just a plain reader of your blog who ran into it by chance while on lunch break in France but I want to wish a ”prompt and complet rétablissement” as we put it and I’ll join the others in praying that you and all of your family members dealing with ailments at the moment get better soon and find the energy to fight it off. Amicales pensées.
Sending lots of love your way!!!
Bisous,
A
