When we moved to the Philadelphia area, one of the first things we did was purchase tickets to a few performances at the Kimmel Center. They’ve all been amazing, but the French National Orchestra transported me to another place for two hours. The pieces by Debussy, Ravel, and Stravinsky were revolutionary in their time and are still so powerful and moving. The Philadelphia International Festival of the Arts is celebrating France this month with many events, and an 81-foot homage to the Eiffel Tower. As we were leaving, the tower began to sparkle + shimmer, and had everyone at a standstill!

Thursday we’ll be doing a 180 with one of my favorites, Les Nubians!

Notes

  1. Oh my goodness, it’s been so long since I’ve heard anyone references Les Nubians! So jealous you’re going back to the Kimmel Center, will have to show my in-laws around there this summer!

  2. I’m glad you know them, I’ve been a fan since their first album…so I was, 18? I’ve never seen them live, I’m so excited! Kimmel would be a great place to take your in-laws!
