I grew up surrounded by books, literally. My Mom is a (retired) librarian, and reads more than anyone I know. I understood the dewey decimal system like no other by the time I was eight. I had fun card cataloging, and searching microfiche. I learned to appreciate the feel of the page, the smell, the weight…I am a book lover. As techy as I am , nothing will ever replace the printed word for me. So, in honor of World Book Day, I encourage you to take the pledge…
I am a total techy but I cannot bring myself to have an e-reader, I love everything about books. I grew up in a household of readers and there is nothing that will replace the magic of a real book!
Thanks for posting this. I am in agreement with Andi I don’t think I’ll ever get an e-reader. I love holding and flipping the pages of a book too much.
Andi, I’m with you, and thanks for your comment!!
Cailin…nothing beats the feel of a book! ;)
I taught myself to read at the age of three and to this day, find no greater pleasure than curling up with a book. Kind of fitting that I write for children now…
so great Kayla…and we need to chat about writing for kids…maybe in April! ;)
I’m so thankful my passion transferred to you, my daughter…xoxo
I can’t see myself ever owning an e-reader. I love the feel of pages between my fingers. The older and busier I get the harder it is to find time to read, but I squeeze in little bits of time as best I can!
Not only do I love the feel of the page, but I love the look of books on a shelf! To me, books are like art!
Ditto Erin…they are absolutely art! :)
